Wockhardt Gets US FDA Nod for Zithromax Generic

Drug maker Wockhardt Ltd said on Tueday it received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval to sell antibiotic azithromycin tablets in various strengths.

Azithromycin is the cheaper version of Pfizer's Zithromax, which had a total market of $0.7 billion in the U.S., Wockhardt said in a statement. (Reporting by Prashant Mehra, editing by Harish Nambiar))
